1: Make sure that you dry the area with a clean cloth or paper towels. Try and soak up as much of the liquid as possible. The faster that you can soak it up, the more chances you will have of odour and stain prevention.

2: Once you have soaked up as much of the stain as possible, get in touch with us and arrange a clean. Just because the area has seemingly been removed of liquid doesn’t mean that uric crystals are not present in the carpet fibres.

The carpet can begin to develop a build-up of uric acid. Uric acid can be very dangerous, especially if it starts to affect your health. These crystals need to be treated to prevent further problems from arising.

It’s important to know that while urine can be extracted out of the carpet, there’s a chance that there could have been more liquid pooled under the surface of the carpet. This liquid could resurface after an extraction has been performed and this is known as ‘wick-back’.

This is because some liquid can remain trapped in the backing of the carpet and it’s inhibiting water migration through it. The backing is only allowing a limited amount of liquid to be extracted through it and while it appears to be clean and dry after an extraction, the backing then releases the previously trapped liquid through it and the stain reappears.
